Dr. Biddulph came to the Fredericksburg area in 1999 to join a busy orthopedic surgeon at the Pratt Clinic. Dr. Biddulph quickly became one of the busiest surgeons at Mary Washington Hospital. He built a strong reputation for providing knowledgeable yet compassionate care.
In early 2001, Dr. Biddulph and his staff left the Pratt Clinic and opened the doors for patients at their first location in downtown Fredericksburg. The departure from the multi-specialty clinic allowed for more personalized, timely care for patients. The long awaited move into the new Ambulatory Services Center building -- adjacent to Mary Washington Hospital -- occurred on December 24th, 2003. The new office location provides for several key conveniences for patients, including availability of advanced radiologic procedures and outpatient surgery in the same building. The Ambulatory Services Center is home to Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg, where every type of radiologic procedure can be scheduled including MRI, CT scans, and bone scans. The Ambulatory Services Center is also home to Fredericksburg Ambulatory Surgery Center where most outpatient surgical procedures are performed. For more advanced needs or in the event hospital admission is required, Mary Washington Hospital is also attached, adding a degree of safety and convenience not typically seen in an office setting.
Dr. Biddulph was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated first in his class with a 4.0 average from Rutgers University in 1982. He earned his medical degree at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 1986. Dr. Biddulph completed an internship in general surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and then served as general medical officer on USS John F. Kennedy, an aircraft carrier out of Norfolk, Virginia. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1994. As a practicing orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Biddulph spent three years at the US Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy and then a year in Jacksonville, Florida prior to leaving active duty and moving to Fredericksburg. Dr. Biddulph held the rank of Commander prior to resigning his commission in 2006.
Dr. Biddulph is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Virginia. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the American Medical Association, Medical Society of Virginia, Fredericksburg Area Medical Society, Virginia Orthopaedic Society, Florida Medical Association, and the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Biddulph's interests include reconstructive surgery of the knee, arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, and ankle, treatment of fractures and other injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, children's fractures, treatment of work-related injuries, and many other conditions and treatments. Common office procedures include casting of fractures, injections for tendonitis or other conditions, and use of office fluoroscopy (live x-ray) to evaluate conditions and assist with certain types of injections.
